Founded in 2022 by Dan Shipley, the Flatbed Safety & Securement Group (FSSG) was established to address a critical gap in flatbed trucking safety and securement education. Mr. Shipley recognized, through his own experience transitioning into flatbed operations, that the industry lacked standardized, formal training in securement practices. Determined to raise safety standards and improve professional competency, he created FSSG as a platform for education, collaboration, and the exchange of industry knowledge.

In 2024, Mr. Shipley partnered with Daniel Kinsman, whose leadership and strategic insight would later guide him to become President & Chief Executive Officer of FSSG. Together, they expanded the organization’s mission, developing comprehensive educational materials and forming a partnership with Learning Without Scars to make flatbed safety and securement training accessible on a national scale. This collaboration significantly advanced FSSG’s reach, providing industry professionals with the tools necessary to enhance load securement practices, reduce preventable accidents, and maintain compliance with federal regulations.

Today, FSSG remains dedicated to mentoring flatbed drivers, promoting best practices, and fostering a culture of safety and professionalism throughout the transportation industry. Through expert-led training, compliance resources, and ongoing engagement, FSSG empowers the flatbed community to uphold the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
